Job title: Commercial Construction Estimator
Location: Goldsboro, NC (Hybrid)

The Commercial Construction Estimator would be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating pre-construction activities of project(s) to ensure that cost estimates and/or project budgets accurately account for the complete scope of the assigned project(s). Ensure that we are competitive in the construction marketplace and successfully obtains new contracts via cost-effective estimating, bidding, and project management. Ensure that we have up to date estimating and cost history system and maintains quality, effective, and good relationships with subcontractors, owners, and suppliers.

Tracks and obtains plans for potential projects to bid.
Prequalify potential subcontractors for bidding
Attend pre-bid meetings, prepare and submit questions for the owner or design professional to clarify bid/contract documents and/or proposal questions.
Responsible for plan deposits, bid bonds, and bid proposal preparation.
Plans bidding strategy to meet or exceed minority participation requirements.
Creates comprehensive estimates with the proper level of detail for all design stages.
Prepare general conditions studies to accurately reflect costs associated with overhead, general conditions, and/or general requirements.
Prepares and assembles detailed estimates by completing take-offs and reviewing specifications.
Reviews quotes, proposals, estimates received from material suppliers and subcontractors for accuracy.
Provide information from pre-construction team to construction team.
Assist in the preparation of subcontract agreements and buyouts of projects.
Establish and maintain historical costs database(s)
Attend networking events to establish new and improve existing relationships

Bachelor’s degree in business construction management, design, engineering, related field or equivalent experience is required
Ideally, a minimum of five years of Construction experience with a commercial general contractor, specifically within estimation and design
Willingness and ability to undergo continuing education around construction best practices
Working knowledge of estimating software programs
Preference to be able to select, build out and set up processes within software programs
